Does CSR travel insurance work if I only paid for my hotel with it and not the flights?

Status matched Alaska Airlines in Feb 2018, got MVP 75K. I'm at 62K miles now. Won't be able to catch 75K by the end of this year. The status resets on Jan 1, or have 12 months after the status match?
