Does everyone have plans for this holiday season? Are you working through it, or taking some time off to enjoy the festivities? I always like asking my colleagues and friends about their plans because it’s fun for me to hear how differently everyone spends this time of year. As for me, I’ll be working and saving my vacation days for next summer instead. I’m looking forward to a longer break when the weather is warm and travel feels even more enjoyable.

Has anyone done a contract to hire position with JPM? How does it work for time off, is there vacation built in? I have young kids and can’t imagine not having any time off, even if on contract work, since illness happens and also, I have a family trip for them this summer… while waiting on conversion to permanent, do you have to work endlessly or is there something in place to make some reasonable work life balance? For those who have done contract to hire to get in the door, was it worth it?

I had an interview the week before Christmas and New Years. I know there is usually a holiday slump - when should I reach out about an update? It will be 3 weeks tomorrow.

I have been working in SEA region last 4 years. I feel burned out. I have 10yoe, I have try to move to other country but I pretty much suck in LeetCode. I want to take some time off to unwind, finish some personal business, and really prepare for interviews. I would like to hear from you. Should I quit to my current manager(5th so far) or wait after mid year performance review, when a new boss will take over my team? I'm thinking on giving them 2 months notice period. I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

When I joined my current company, we were on a quarterly bonus structure with guaranteed payouts each quarter. This was, in fact, how the recruiter said he could meet my salary request.

The company just announced we are moving to annual payouts only, with no payments for 2023 until May 2024. There are no raises happening.

This amounts to 12% less money in my pocket in 2023 plus inflation.

Is this standard, or should I be looking for opportunities elsewhere?

I have joined Nagarro almost a year now as a senior architect. However, I see lot of issues here. The company is great so far as employee friendliness is concerned. It may be rated as the top most company in that regard and that is why attrition is well within control. However, there are issues:

1. Project Allocation - allocated to projects without fitment with the role or skills. No internal job portal

2. Lots of seniors in bench for long time

3. No way to give company feedback
