Can’t speak for EY directly, but if their processes are anything like they are at Deloitte then it’s likely it will depend on your level, and even then exceptions aren’t granted for every restricted client.
For instance, at D, you can pre-clear many restricted investments by acknowledging that you will not provide services to those companies. However those exceptions become more and more restrictive at the manager level and above, and may not be granted at all for certain companies.
Very interested in the Deloitte policy. So you can get a waiver to buy stock in an audit client if you are able to show you would never work for them?

If it is not an audit client then you can invest. You will need to reflect in GMS and would likely not be able to do non audit work for those entities to avoid insider trading issues
Which is fine, I have an industry focus (Power & Utilities) and don’t trade those companies. As long as I don’t have to liquidate my positions in AAPL, TGT, etc.
