Senior Art Director, your premise here is a great example of "survivorship bias". You are reacting to the threads that you see, but not the ones you can't see... because they were deleted!
This is a specific type of a broader mental shortcut that Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman calls "what-you-see-is-all-there-is" (WYSIATI). It describes the error of focusing on what is present and visible while ignoring what is absent or unseen.
So I'd recommend checking your biases. No judgments... we all suffer from bias. But we can improve our awareness and reduce our reliance on them by putting in the work.
Señor Art Director, you are once again exhibiting bias by only focusing on "what you see". You don't know which threads are deleted. You only know which threads are not deleted. And you are making a conclusion based only on what you can observe. That is textbook survivorship bias.
My point does not depend on knowing which threads are deleted. My point is actually that we CAN'T know which threads are deleted (since we can't see them!). And therefore, we should recognize that this could induce a cognitive bias... which you have fallen hard for!
When others point our our biases, our natural impulse is often to deny that we are exhibiting them. This is because of another bias, which is to avoid the general negative association of "bias". I encourage you to be less defensive, accept that you do have biases, and resolve to work on mitigating them when making decisions.
It’s all chuds here
