Ummm I feel like you are totally over reacting here. These are not people trying to kidnap you, it’s people trying to avoid paying the taxi fee to do pickups at the airport. I actually can’t believe you called the emergency hotline for this (whatever that even is), this is common practice at basically every airport. Not everyone is out to get you…
The irony that you people think there is something magical about a cab driver vs any other driver that makes safe lol 🤦♀️. If someone wants to kidnap you I promise it makes no difference what kind of car they’re in. But sure, let that false sense of security run your lives
There’s those big signs on the luggage belts and they announce it all the time
Exactly what I was going to say. This is well understood by anyone who has been in baggage claim at ord for at least 5 min.

I was just in terminal 3 baggage claim 2 hours ago. Should have told me hello.
I posted this in a couple places and this is the most demographically vague bowl. Very interesting to see the reactions here compared to others in groups that are more often targeted for violence.
I’ve been flying solo for decades and to almost every continent but have never been approached like I was Wednesday. Hope others aren’t in the future.
@EY you sound privileged. This is a lot more common than you think.
Was it this guy? In 2019 I saw him nearly every week trying to sneakily find people to give a ride to- I snapped a pic of him and @ohare in a post.
The warning sign he was often in front of
This happened to me a couple weeks ago. I was trying to order an Uber on my phone and he wouldn’t stop asking me where I was trying to go to.
Happened to me in Shanghai once; was genuinely terrifying
This has been common practice literally forever everywhere in the country/world….. confused.
Has happened to me before, if you cuss them out they leave you alone
Just experienced the same thing. He nearly chased me down and it made me uncomfortable.
Happens a lot at T1 too. I’ve actively told people listening to them to go to the taxi lane. They they cuss me out. It’s fun.
they are there everyday
This has been happening for decades.
All compliance said is “let’s not change what seems to not be a big problem”. That’s just lazy operating procedures 😂

Lol what first time flying into ANY airport?
Have had good success in Newark with gypsy operators, so not seeing why Chicago should be scary.
Those guys are always overly aggressive.
