Hi fishes! I recently graduated. I got campus placed as associate analyst consulting in Deloitte in my 5th semester. It's been an year there was no communication from the Deloitte apart from the letter of intent. Now recently I received a mail saying we'll be onboarding in phases and onboarding will be completed for 2022 batch by February 2023 . Within my first year of Consulting, really struggling with the hours amongst other things. Spoken to a couple of people internally and the advice is to get on to projects with bigger budgets and therefore bigger teams/more support. I want to wait until I hit the one year mark before making a decision on whether Consulting is for me or not. Curious to hear from other experienced hires..how is/was your first year?

Am I the only person who has been super disgusted to Fishbowl’s response to the Meta layoffs? I’ve been laid off twice in my career but I’m not mad at 11000 people who no longer have jobs just cause they got decent severance while I got a week on my way out. I didn't apply for a job that would have set me up for the future in the government. I wouldn't have to worry about money or future jobs. My boss had just given me a small pay rise and talked up the future and so I felt good. I now severely regret not applying for the job and cannot stop thinking about it to the point of insomnia and depression. I even contacted the employer but too late. It's a small town and rarely anything comes up. I hate myself and feel like I failed my family. :(

Is it illegal to tell someone to get out of your car if your in a national park at night? What if the person made you feel unsafe and you wanted them out of your car, even though the location was a bit dangerous (ex Yellowstone, Smoky Mountains)?

I once asked a colleague at a radio company how much he's paid monthly, and he outright refused to tell me. In fact, he found it very odd that I asked. I later learned that he was making double my salary. I know it's not an employee's job to fix pay inequity by sharing their salary figures, but I'm still of the opinion that it helps uncover pay gaps. But do you think it's wise to do so at the risk of damaging your work environment or the whole thing backfiring on you? Thoughts are welcome.

@Capco what’s the comms/content space like? I’ve heard lots of mixed reviews re: consultancy jobs, but that’s not my focus. I ask as I’m looking into a potential position at Capco, but concerned I could be leaving a more “secure” company (BofA) for a raise at another org. that has a lot of room for improvement.

Seeking ideas for boosting morale in an office. What activities or rituals do you implement that are appreciated by your staff? We do lunch almost once a month and even that feels forced. Some staff don’t interact with others because they are just introverted (not for any other reason). The team seems to open up when we play ice breaker questions but I’m losing my creativity with interesting questions. Looking for more ideas.

Currently interviewing for a remote account manager position with USI Insurance in NC. I have over 20 years experience in personal lines as an agent. Can anyone provide insight as to the average pay for this position?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

I went for 3 interviews with a company met with vp and was given package thinking I aced interview there was another candidate 😞 the other person for the job. The VP calls me to tell me I didn’t get position however he wants me to re apply in new year that something else will be open, and that he wanted to keep a copy of my resume what does this mean ? Should I apply again in new year or don’t bother ?
