You're absolutely right, and I think that's the case even more so now with younger candidates. They can find all the information they want about our company online, so they do their research even leading up to the initial interview. If we don't show up with a positive experience, they can just as easily search elsewhere.

exactly! gen z is so resourceful
this is so true. especially with recent lay offs. Candidates crave stability and long term growth. They evaluate whether the company and team is a good fit for them
One million percent! Even when I was interviewing for my current position, I turned down a better offer because the CEO was lacking those qualities. I already knew the culture of the company would be negatively impacted by who's at the top. I've seen it too many times.

How was the CEO behaving if you don't mind sharing?
Great reminder. It's an interview, not an interrogation. You've got as much obligation to sell your company to the candidate as they have to sell themselves to you.

100% agree
I mention this to people a lot. It's important to remember that what happens in an interview can be talked about a lot. (Well, that's no surprise if you look at Fishbowl on a typical day.) So any unprofessional behavior will reflect on the company at some point. And, potentially, stories of interviews could even drive away good talent.

yes, I see so many candidates sharing their interview experience on social media and it tends to get a lot of traction too
