How are you doing with those credit spreads after the last 4 days PWC1?
Well played for sure. Slow but steady. How many trades do you keep on at one time. Do you have a sizable account to manage 1% size, and/or trading names with smaller spread ranges like $1 or $2.50? 30-45 days seems like a long time to see the benefits of theta decay. Any insights into these you are willing to share?
Just shake it off OP and IL. Come back to it. I enjoy the challenge of it, learned too much and see what is happening with retirement supporting entitlements, that I stay in this with the goal of doing what others won’t do now so I can do what others can’t later.
This happened to me every time. I get a few great weeks, then lose all my gains in one or two trades. I don’t have a solution, I just started doing paper trades until I can prove I will consistently make money.
switched to a premium selling strategy
credit spreads, cash secured puts & covered calls only
only time i buy options is if it’s a LEAP call
other than that, credit spreads have kept my win rate higher (around 75%)
the gains are smaller, but the wins are more consistent
All of mine are at near or even above max loss due to high IV. The true lesson is risk management and capital preservation.
We have a lot of uncertainty. Thought it would take 60 to 90 days for the cutting of the Fed Government to erode confidence in the economy. I underestimated them.
Some of it simply decades of experience fu**ing things up. Not exactly the cream of the crop here. It’s like buying puts on a basket of meme stocks every week, sooner or later they’ll print.
The market is also random.
It has peaked and most traders are looking for another leg up to cash in with you buying.
P/E ratios above 80-100+ are supposed to be the "norm" ? No.
Keep any positions smaller near term, and it makes sense to BTO ITM calls ( even $5 in ) to cover the STO calls
Some p/e are really getting crazy. But I'd say it's even crazier the disparity of P/E withing industries. Usually you can benchmark again similar companies but that logic is getting harder and harder to follow too
