Everybody’s saying to give notice in person, but I barely talk to the equity partners in my office, including my practice group leader. Would it be weird to knock on their doors (if they’re even in) or call randomly just to give notice, when I normally do neither of those things and only engage in small chat with them at the annual summer event?

Disagree with email being fine. You can physically do it of course, but people will find it odd. The move is sending an email asking if [partner, head of group, whoever] has a few minutes for a quick meeting or call. Then you can tell them in person or the phone without it seeming like a random pop in out of the blue, if that's making you uncomfortable.

Agree and just wanted to add that the partner will probably expect big news like a resignation when you schedule the meeting. Don’t forget that what feels big and scary for you is pretty routine for them as a hiring manager. You got this!

Yeah agree with P1. I’d email to ask for a meeting.

I want to get out of ID so badly. I don’t mind the work but the hours are just killing me. I just started at a new firm less than 6 months ago and I am already desperate to get out.
