My hiring manager was let go before I started, my projects got absorbed by a peer who won't hand them off, the SVP is hands off, and a new VP joins in June to sort ownership. Currently doing work well below my level (peer who was asked to onboard me gives me random research). Not worried about promotion, just want to have scope as new VP joins.

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

Sometimes when I make a mistake at work I feel like I am not good enough for the job while other times I take it as “let’s do better next time.” Would love to find a balance between the two feelings.
