How does someone get involved with writing articles for their PA firm or publications like Tax Notes? Interested in helping to collaborate on an article (no specific topic in mind) but really just to see what the process is like, but not sure how to get involved.

Just go to taxnotes and on the top, they have a section called “write for us” or something like that. You click and you submit your paper and that’s it. It goes through various levels of proofing and usually requires sign off from your firm.

Source: I’ve written for taxnotes before. (And Bloomberg).

Other publications can invite you to write as well. And then it kind of snowballs.

Thank you! That’s a helpful tip!

Work with/reach out to WNT or technical-focused groups in your service line. I’ve done joint articles with them before :)

Thanks!

You usually volunteer or get asked to do/help on one.

Every firm is different. For us it’s getting in contact with our national tax office. You need to figure out what the process is at your firm.

Our employee satisfaction survey is tied to our performance goals. Meaning, if we rate management badly, we cannot meet 10% of our goals which in turn affects our bonuses and raises. We asked HR but they didn’t do anything about it. Is this normal? Is this legal? If not, what else can we do about it?

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Hello All, my joining date needs to be extended by 5 days in JPMC and HR said in call that no revised offer letter based on new joining date will be issued and new joining date confirmation will be somewhat communicated prior to 3 days of onboarding.
However he mentioned he will reply back with a confirmation email on top of the email which I have sent requesting for revised joining date.
Do you see any risk of offer cancellation/revocation here?

I have a real estate client who at the top of his organization chart owns is 50/50 partners in a real estate investment company. First question is it advantageous to have the top of the organization 50/50 partners own the r/e company as an s-corp? That 50/50 company then owns 70% of holding company they own all the real estate as a partnership that the original partners are 35/35 and the investors own the remainder. All the real estate deals are then owned by this holding company.

I spent a year in tax investigations where I believe I was thriving ( I was going to be an assistant manager in July 2023), I had a lot of assistant manager jobs, I even drafted a Code 9 report to HMRC which my manager said was 80% of an actual report, he then added the 20% and submitted it.
After I realised I couldn't maintain all the unpaid overtime I was working I decided to take a turn and go to compliance, so now I work in CT compliance. I feel very surpressed.
