You can only work in your approved MSA (here NY) without filing an amendment. If you are going to spend less than say 1-2 days ever week and less than 8 hours in total then I donāt think you need to file an amendment for a different MSA. But please consult your lawyers before making a decision.
Amendments these days (in Trumpās world) are taking significant amount of time to approve. RFEs are common. Eventually almost all get approved (especially for folks like us) but by the time you receive the approval, your project will be complete. Premium processing cases are also getting RFEs as the visa officer uses it to buy more time to carry out extreme vetting. RFE approval process takes 2-3 months, on avg.
Itās infinitely easier if you could find the project at your LCA location. However, compromising your career by missing good opportunities is also not worth it. I think the answer to your question is apply for amendment if you think it is good project that will further your career. If it just another project it is not worth the hassles of getting another petition approved. All the best.
... amendnents without hassles? If yes, what's the typical turnaround time these days?
EY is not filing any LCA amendments. We are still in a holding pattern.
^ yes
They just started the process to file my LCA because the PPED on the new project was particular about bringing me on board and so he pushed EY Law. They had no other choice but to suck it up and do it. I had 2-3 other previous project instances where they didnāt wanna do it and the PPED werenāt keen to push. So it fizzled out.
EY V&I team and EY Law sucks
