EY or Slalom? Would be a lateral move to either Principal (Slalom) or Manager (EY) within business consulting. EY is about $20k more but WLB at Slalom I’ve heard is great.

I was at both. I’d say EY. It can also be very chill if you’re on the right project. Slalom is more like soul sucking chill like five hours of the slowest most painful meetings. If you’re like a new mom or have a reason to need to be able to really check out every single day at 4/5 then slalom

Recently joined Slalom from big 4 - WLB is certainly more chill, but capability (at least as far as I have noticed) is a bit of a step back particularly at the junior level. Reality of a smaller firm

Depends on your priorities are. If you value your life and time outside of work then Slalom. If you want a big.4 experience in consulting the EY. I honestly would focus more on the market, stability, and culture. They both have a people culture but much has changed at Slalom and they have been losing money overall. If you know the length of the contract is good for you project and there's plenty of work should things change then that's a good option.i would ask about the length of the project, if there's other project opportunities if the project ends, length of bench time in between projects before they lay you off, etc. That's the fine print but you need to ask if you haven't already. Congrats and good luck!

Currently at slalom, great idea of excellent WLB a thing of the past. Everyone is putting in a ton of time and the company is going through a lot of changes internally.

smart

I’d go slalom for the WLB. Everyone here will say Big4

How was shalom interview

EY for sure, can always go to Slalom later

I will apply to slalom I already have big 4 and big 5 experience

EY!!!! More projects, more opportunities to move around, more training and resources, and a way better brand. At your level, all of that stuff matters more than you think for your next role. Also if you love consulting, EY will have a better career trajectory in the firm and partners are paid a ton more.

ey

EY. Far greater opportunities than Slalom

Child care when traveling for work should be expensable… also dog boarding… I cannot get over how things like first class seats and any meals for higher ups, dry cleaning, ubers/lyfts over cheaper options, etc. all are expensable but essential costs you need to foot when traveling like child care and dog boarding are not expensable. I wish we had a per diem like allotment rather than actual costs so we could use money left over if we choose cheaper options so we could use the money we save
