Fidelity Investments I joined FIL on 08th August 2022 and hence was eligible for appraisal but even after a good feedback, I was told that there is no increment in salary as well as bonus because of "Too Soon To Decide" rating. And this is being followed not just in our team but in whole FIL. This is the first time I am hearing such kind of thing and didn't found any thing like this on "HR Hub". So, if anyone of you know about this or have received similar gyan from Manager, please share your experience. Fidelity In

You may love your firm, but your firm doesnât love you. Make no mistake, how much a company pays you is exactly a reflection of how much they value you. No company will pay someone more unless they think theyâre a flight risk, and it would be difficult and costly to find and train a replacement.
You need to view your relationship with your company as a business partnership. Your bosses are not your friends, and I guarantee your Partner would not put their career on the line for you. You need to be your own advocate if you want to get paid. Iâm not a fan of this kind of culture either, but itâs just how things work
PM1 you are the guy/gal!!!! Just what I needed to hear. Itâs a business relationship they donât love us. Weâve been brainwashed by these firms to think we owe our careers to them.
You are making 100K a couple years out of school, you are not underpaid.
The whole industry, everyone of us, promotes people to fast into manager, senior manager snd even partner level roles.
Slow down and brush you will be better at it and overall long term more successful if it takes longer
I love my team, Partner leaders, SMs, and the work. I'm not a flight risk. My Partner is fully supportive of my promotion case, but promotion isn't the only issue... how do I approach the discussion around compensation early enough in the cycle, without coming across as an ultimatum but also too softly..? Appreciate advice from leaders or also anyone who's successfully negotiated for an increase within their role, whether on cycle or off cycle.
TIA!

Get a competing offer for the next level from another firm. Thatâs the only real leverage youâll have.
