Hi All! I hope you guys are staying safe and healthy.
I am hosting a free workshop for teachers that I thought might benefit you. The workshop is called From Unsettled to Prepared Classroom. I am giving you the tools you need to feel organized and ready for this upcoming school year. There is so much that is still uncertain and it can be super daunting to start to plan for a year like this one.

My recommendation is to increase your budget.
Honestly, with 4K down you can get a CX-5 in your budget. It’s prolly your best bet in terms of value. I’d also look at a Tiguan, but not sure you’ll be able to get there with that one. Jeep GC Laredo is likely with that much down but not sure (that said you probably want the limited).
I lease a Honda passport for 277 a month with 3k down. Love the car, have had no issues. Had to drive a little ways out of the city to find a dealer to give me that price though.
Chief
$350 a month for an SUV? Yeah, good luck with that. That’s low even for a sedan
Thank you both!
Don’t lease a car
Was looking for car recommendations, not lease vs buy.
Mazda CX-5
AWD and at least the touring trim.
I have a cr-v that I really like. Nothing fancy, but reliable and easy to drive!
Same! I lease a CRV, put 0 down, and my monthly payment is $305 a month. lease started summer 2019. 2 wheel drive but one trim model up from base. Love it.
you’re looking at 350/month if you put 4-5k down. No way you’re touching a lease for 350/month with $0 down
Will be putting down 4K but was looking for car suggestions not money suggestions 😋
If your budget is $350, I’d look at Hyundai or Kai for the power train warranty.
Have a Hyundai Sante Fe on a lease at $280, $0 down, paid just taxes & fees upfront.
Oh wow! I’ll have to look into, thanks!
Clearly people on here haven’t done their research before leasing. Check out LeaseHackr marketplace and filter for your region. Have leased out my last 3 cars from there. Leased a Subaru Crosstrek for $299/mo with $750 down. This was 6 months ago though. Right now market is not in our favor due to chip shortage. Cars are selling for markups and there are little deals/incentives. If you can wait, do it.
Depends on how much you put down, new or used, and what you define as SUV. A real SUV is a Grand Cherokee/suburban/Durango. Probably not in your price range.
RAV4, CR-V, cheaper Jeeps are where you’ll want to look
I have totaled a lease before with no issues with my insurance. Got the money back. Also yes get it’s not a good time, but I need a car lol????
Following this
Buick. I know it's not sexy, but the cars are solid and the lease programs have been great for me.
I know I’m kind of late to this party, but if you’re looking for a good deal in this awful market check out the Toyota Corolla cross. It’s a new model released this year but it’s between a Corolla and a rav4 for a fraction of the price of a rav4. I’m in NJ and they’re running lease deals for 12k miles per year, three years, just under 3k down and the monthly payment is $287. That would get you reliability and a bit of a bigger car while staying below budget. The best of both worlds!
I went to look at them but they don’t have any in my city. They said they would call me when one came in off a truck and that was a month ago. But i do like the look of them!
