I wouldn’t divulge this during the interview process as unfortunately, there may be a stigma out there. However, I would suggest having an honest conversation immediately after signing the offer letter and completing any background/drug testing required. I’ve had new hires go this route regarding sensitive information (pregnancy, transitioning name change, medical conditions) and it is a much more positive experience for everyone if we can properly plan for the training and first few months with the facts in mind. I have also had people wait until a few days/weeks in and it’s a major disruption to the ability to plan accordingly. I would advise you to know your rights and be prepared to navigate some potentially negative feelings.
