Feeling discouraged…

I interviewed with a reputable firm two weeks ago. The interview went great—lasted over an hour, lots of compliments, positive body language throughout, and they mentioned they’d be in touch with me very soon.

I was confident an offer would follow, but two weeks later, no response to my follow-up email from last week. Now I’m waiting to see if today’s voicemail gets returned.

Is it common to be completely ghosted like this? Should I give up hope on receiving an offer?

Ghosting happens, but it's also the first few weeks of the year and there's a lot going on in all parts of business. And hiring is secondary for a lot of places until mid-February and beyond. Don't give up hope yet. Hopefully your call gets returned soon.

I figured that might be the case. Jan-early Feb is always a hectic time in the financial services industry. The job posting is still open, so I’m holding onto a small sliver of hope. Thanks for lifting my spirits!

Yep

So comment

Yes you should give up hope, yes it’s common to get ghosted and get used to it. The time and effort you spend getting angry and bitter is better spent applying to other positions.

Ive experienced this so many times same feeling same thoughts and then just ghosted no reply ony mails or linkedin messages

Do not give up hope. If the job posting is still listed, they may have a rule that it stay up for so long. Lots of places do that, even when they already have it filled in their mind. Plus, as you know, hiring is never quick in finance, especially the larger the firm.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.
