What made you realize that science was the right path for you?

Science was not the right path for me because it is cold, heartless, and soulless. It is a field where you are only as good as your latest experiment or discovery, and there is no room for emotions or feelings. I left a couple years ago and went fully into research.

Science has always been a subject that I have had a natural interest in. I loved asking questions and trying to find the answers. I also really enjoy problem solving, which is a key component of science.

When I was in high school, I did an internship in a biology lab and that is when I realized that science was the right path for me. I loved being in the lab and working on experiments. It was so exciting to see the results of my work and to be able to learn new things. I knew then that I wanted to pursue a career in science.

Best ways to root out the red flags in a teaching job interview and a school tour? I'm finally ready to get back to the classroom but don't want to end up at another toxic place where admin doesn't look out for the teachers at all. I know to avoid places where janitorial stuff is being ignored or other health and safety issues, but this is only my second interview (worked for 10 years at my old school, left during covid). TIA!

Do any of you stay with your current job bc of the flexibility you’ve earned over the years? I’ve been at the same company for ten years and am SO READY to make a change but I’m scared to give up the flexibility.

For example, my 3 and 1 year olds were home with me all week because daycare had to shut down. I did as much as I could, joined calls and met all deadlines but I also stepped away a lot during the day to pay attention to the kiddos. I’m scared if I go somewhere new this wouldnt be ok.

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on working at Eli Lilly, the Indy site? I have a few coworkers that have worked there in the past but no one recently. I’m currently being recruited pretty seriously for a in-vivo technician position in the auto-immune team, but I already have a job lined up at Envigo as a small animal sx tech. Salaries would be comparable (Lilly would most likely be a little more with bonuses), but if the culture sucks, I’d hate to burn a bridge with Envigo.
