I think part of the problem is that many people feel companies don't care about them. A lot of young people start out with good work ethics but then see slackers and charmers promoted ahead of them. They work really hard only for their efforts to be ignored or disregarded. I think the modern workplace has a lot to do with how little people care.

I agree with this as well. Some ppl have positions in which they can’t afford not to care, it could cost them their job. It sucks when you have ambition to be more and you have to oversee a bunch of ppl who have gripes with the company, that manifesting into poor performance that you have to compensate for because you are a strong performer
An abandonment of work ethic does seem to be part of modern life. I suppose books could be written about why that is, but at the simplest level it just seems that people often resent the companies they work for. And, let's be honest, a lot of times that's not undeserved.
Pro
Agreed. The companies are the main cause for this. However, when you work your way up and you are tasked with overseeing a bunch of unhappy, poor performers, it’s exhausting
Depends on the person. Job hoppers don't care.
Pro
They surely don’t.

You are not alone in that frustration. Different opinions are healthy, but misaligned effort levels can drain a team fast. The hard part is you cannot control others work ethic, only your standards. Finding even a few people who care like you do makes a big difference.

Absolutely, it’s tough when your energy and standards don’t match the team around you. You start noticing the gap more with experience. Finding a workplace where dedication and work ethic are shared is rare, but it makes a huge difference when it clicks.
