Probably different for men that women. For a guy, what is the paternal leave and when and how much do you plan on taking it? I know men who took a week or two initially, wife took 6 months, then husband took the rest of his leave. I know guy that took 6 months when their wife did ( although unless they were job hunting or a complication most regretted that). I know guys that took 4 weeks FT, then another month PT. Some companies make you say and stick to it, others are more flexible.
Taking of two weeks is like a vacation. Taking off 4 to 6 months is a bigger impact. What lead time does your project need to plan for your being gone?
Women unless they are completely remote, start showing. Most tell after the 1st trimester, with 20 weeks probably being the most common.
I did a bit after 20 weeks. I had several losses beforehand, so I had some anxiety about sharing too early. Everyone is very understanding.
Thank you for sharing. I appreciate that!
I was high risk so I had to tell my manager sooner than I would have liked. Everyone else I told when I was half way through, around 20 weeks.
I did at 12 weeks and it was only positive and supportive
I have a good relationship with my manager and coach so told both of them just before the en of the first trimester (along with a handful of other close colleagues that I knew would've excited) and then other people/started filling out paperwork around 24 weeks
I waited till the NIPT confirmed she was viable
