I had this, but it occurred when I tried to go to bed. I have a issue with my anxiety spiking when I try to sleep, my head just fills with racing thoughts. It got so bad I was have panic attacks and my whole body would twitch or spasm.
I ended up finally getting up the courage to see a physiatrist and was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and depression. I was prescribed lexapro and klonopin. The medicine did wonders. I have been on them for about 5 years now. I do have concerns about prolonged benzo use but they really do help me function.
I suggest seeing both a physiatrist and therapist to understand what is driving your anxiety.

I do. I have also tried therapist to avoid medication, but I found what they told me to not be very useful when it came practical use.
The fact is that some people have a chemical imbalance in their brain and therapist can only do so much. In order to fix the chemical imbalance, people like us may need medication to properly function.
If you do get prescribed do read up on side effects. The doctor should go over it all with you but it’s different for everyone.
I have had minimal side effects and great benefits. The anti-depressants do take some time to build up to a working level so the first few weeks are a little rough but after that were much better. The benzo I take every night before bed. These you feel right away and is also why they can be addictive. However I have been able to stay at the same dose for years and no longer suffer from anxiety when going to bed.
