I definitely want to remain WFH for as long as possible, its made a huge difference for my health and my family. But I'm willing to be flexible too.
I went back to the office last year, and I got used to it pretty quickly. I'd worked in the office pre-pandemic, so being back wasn't some colossal shock to me. I like the camaraderie you get in a workplace, you just can't replicate that over video. And I think it's just better for one's career. Somebody said no one is going to promote a name they recognize from slack, they're going to promote a person. And there's some truth to that.
I prefer WFH. I live in a city where going anywhere takes at least a half hour. Would much rather use that time to make breakfast and spend time with family than spending it in traffic. As well as saving on gas and going out to eat.
I miss being in the office. I loved the culture and the energy. Trainings are easier in person. I felt more connected to people and a purpose. The structure was nice. I tend to be intense when it comes to work and often fall into a serious OCD type focus, when left to my own devices. Being in the office balanced that. It’s all personal preference and if it’s worth it to you. I don’t think you need a team of anonymous strangers to confirm you, if you feel confident in your preferences and decisions.
