Following up via email for a job with your interviewer thanking them for time + brief reiteration on why you’d be a good fit after you interviewed… do you do it ? How important is it?

All but the brief reiteration piece. If I didn't make that clear in the interview, me saying it isn't going to make a difference. I don't know if thank you emails are all that important, but sending them feels like best practice so I continue doing it.

I always do it. I think it's professional, polite, and helps you stick out in their mind. Plus, I think it's a little bit unprofessional to NOT do it these days.

I always do it. I don't know if it makes a differene or not but I figure it only takes a couple minutes so it is a good practice.

It’s vital. An interview is an audition, it’s theatre. You want to be on stage with as many speaking lines as possible. You control your image, words, pace, movement, story. You’re on and the spotlight is on you. Harness each moment. The email follow up is your second scene, an opportunity to impress with a well-crafted return appearance. Don’t dare waste the moment with a bland email. Through words, showcase your ability to relate a current event to their company. Show them that you see the big picture and can help them shepherd in their next chapter. Attach your value proposition summary 1-pager, the lingering rose left on stage.

It’s that little bit of extra effort you put in that also shows you paid attention to the conversation

Any tips for how an undergrad (i have a politics degree) could position herself as ready for financial/corp comms? Perhaps, any specific certification? I have had experience in some agencies working on corporate/finance/legal clients but it has not resulted in any interviews opportunity especially with the banks/ financial brands? What could be the issue?

Hi, I have a couple of possible opportunities moving forward in my career. Currently I am an administrative coordinator at a university handling a specific area with a helping hand in multiple others. I’m about to have a opportunity to be a procurement assistant in the same office. I also likely have an office manager opportunity in a small IT cybersecurity business. The other pending slight possibility is a assistant property management. I would appreciate feedback on the different career paths
