For individuals who have been navigating the job market for more than six months, especially those with significant responsibilities such as a mortgage, how do you manage to keep going?

Savings is gone and we've had the mortgage in forbearance for as long as they'd allow. With not even a recruiter call on the horizon, our house is going on the market this coming week, and I am making preparations for taking picturesas I type.

Our saving grace is that we have a decent amount of equity built up, so we'll be able to rent for a year or so, and I am now doubling down on getting any job that will have me, which is harder than it sounds when you're almost 50 and easily cast off as "overqualified." God willing either a good job will come along at some point, or at least something meaningful enough that we can reset our lifestyle and start building the savings account back up.

At the moment we are racing to the bottom, but God is good, and I do have faith that life will turn out just fine.

I’m draining my retirement account. Savings is gone and I still have 2 other 401k accounts with previous jobs I can use. I have about 10 more months before I sell my townhouse and move to a low cost rural area while looking for remote work. It’s not ideal as I’m the only family in town for my elderly mother who is in assisted living and has progressive dementia. If I could bottle my stress and sell it, I’d be richer than Musk who DOGE’d everyone.

I'm really not. I'm currently renting an apartment but I'll probably end up moving cross-country to stay with my parents. Even that won't be enough though, my student loan payments alone will drain my savings before the end of the year

Thankfully my spouse is able to manage so far. But it’s been quite stressful looking for a job in this unstable market even with years of experience and networking. Hoping for the best for everyone.

I am looking into the CCP (Certified Compensation Professional). It seems to be quite an expensive exam.

If anyone else is studying, let me know and maybe we can share study materials!

For those who have taken it, are there any cheaper or alternative study materials to any official guides you would recommend? I went this route with the PHR and SHRM-SCP and passed each on the both try, so I wanted to see if that method may be viable here. Any recommended order to take courses in?

How long does it take for PwC to send out rejection email? I interviewed with the team like a month ago, the recruiter called me the next day and told me that congrats, everyone likes me and told that they were working on my official offer. 3 weeks later, nothing. I followed up 3 times already and got the answer that I should expect to hear by the end of the week. My last follow up email, no response lol. Should I just move on now?

Hello, I'm hearing product management is the space to be if you want to see a considerable bump in pay. What is the path forward to reach that role? I have experience as a project manager, scrum master, and BA and I was hoping these combined could land me a product manager role, but it seems like companies require extensive prior experience as a product manager already - so, what is the best way to get my foot into that role?

I got a call from the Google recruiter about my L7 em interview Google She said I did overwhelmingly good on all interviews except one had mixed feedback on a system design. No surprise because it was not a good interview. The recruiter said i had a choice to go to hiring committee, give referrals they could call about my system design or take another system design interview. I’m not confident about the system design because of the bad experience I had with the previous interviewer. What should I do?

Career advice?

I'm a relatively junior data engineer (2yoe), the only other engineer (senior) that trained me left about a 6 months ago and I negotiated a nice raise for the extra responsibilities.

My performance reviews have been stellar, but my manager is starting to look to hire a senior to help me deliver projects as we do lack capacity right now.

I feel like I might be missing an opportunity to ask for a promotion and hire a junior instead.

Any opinions/tips?

During my job search, I am getting a lot of recruiters asking for me to answer right to represent emails. These particular recruiters follow a same pattern and seem unprofessional. Hi! I have been seriously applying for weeks upon weeks for a scrum master position/agile coach. But it’s hard getting an offer 😢

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.
