Comp is fairly decent, mostly smaller buy side deals for PE companies. Good experience overall most of my coworkers are ex big 4 so no complaints on talent. Resources are definitely less than a big 4 in terms of training but plenty of opportunities to get on the job experience which in my opinion is more valuable. Variety of industries nobodies really specialized to one industry. Never had an issue asking questions even to people that aren’t necessarily on my deal if a senior manager/director isn’t available
Typically work on buy sides and sell-sides in 5-30M EBITDA range. Have done a deal in practically every industry over two years at this point (healthcare, manufacturing, business services, retail, financial services, tech, infrastructure, etc.).
WLB seems better than at Big4 but pay is also definitely lower (our bonus is kinda sad tbh).
Work 45-55 hour weeks on buy side with tight deadlines. 40-45 hour on sell sides / slower moving buy-sides. Normally at least 2-4 weeks of a year working 0-20 hours. Very flexible on work schedule.
Culture is great at RSM definitely the main thing that keeps me here. Everyone is willing to teach and generally smart people (particularly at manager and above level). Stronger emphasis on WLB than most accounting firms.
Typically only staffed on one deal at a time as a manager and senior (directors can be on 2-4 depending how senior they are / size of deals). Typical deal structure is senior, manager, director, and an India resource with partners not normally super involved.
