Yeah, generally you’re expected to be available if you’re on a day rate, unless you’ve set the expectation otherwise. 15 mins notice is a little short and I’m surprised the producer wasn’t more understanding - I feel like with that they’d generally ask if you’re available for a quick meeting in 15min and if you’re not, push it back a little further. But I’m also not shocked given the state of many agencies these days.
If it happens once or twice it’s understandable. But if you’re on a day rate you pretty much need to be available when they need you.

PM’s know this. It’s also Q4. You can set boundaries especially during lunchtime hours. Breaks are ok as well, I’ve worked day rates multiple times. Unless your PM is unrealistic. Or you were recruited for fires. 👀🤔🔦
15 minutes to walk the dog is plenty of time. Day rates mean you’re available —- all day. So be available.
They expect you to be available. But, they should also be able to accommodate moving meetings around. You aren’t just sitting there by the phone like a pyschopath
Not being available with 15 min notice is quite reasonable even if you’re full time. Also, in most states (and in most contracts that I’ve had) they can’t tell you what hours to work/be available if you are not a full time employee.

What were you doing that made you unavailable?
Just say you were in the bathroom.

Unless it was more than 15 minutes. That’s standard as a pm/producer. Some people it’s a pattern. Day rate outside of lunch time meetings. Usually, everyone else’s schedule is taken into account.
9-5pm yes you should be fairly available
NOT 5-6pm
