For those of you who have dropped your series 7 and went fee only, what would you say has been the biggest advantage? I want to be able to truly serve our clients as a fiduciary. Has it been beneficial to your practice?

I think the biggest advantage for our Advisors is not have to pocket the E & O costs for the brokerage side and not eing regulated by FINRA (instead the SEC only). Just make sure you are aligned with the right compliance

I am curious to know about this too! I’d like to know if you can still position annuities in the portfolio and use 529 plans? What about insurance products like life insurance, disability or health and property?

529 plans generally have two options for 529 plans: self-managed and client-advised. I would assess fees they the client-advised option. I don’t charge for 529 plans and help clients set up their own self-managed accounts.

Wish there were a way to edit one's posts. I replied about RIAs that FINRA regulates. It's those that have less than $100 million in AUM.

Again. Just trying to help others have correct info.
