As ex-ACN… almost anything is better at the moment.
Startups typically look for people with deep industry knowledge or (technical) skillets that will help advance the core mission of the company.
Having worked at 3 startups, with friends that have done more, its usually sink or swim and you'll often need to perform effectively across multiple roles. Definitely not an environment where they'd be providing you with on the job training.
You can do non tech PMO work in most industries
Startups don’t rollout the red carpet for people with no deep skills. They are also operating in an industry , and you need skills for that industry
Many in your position, just chill and watch world cup.. n go to Greece this summer. There is more to life than 9 to 5 and Accenture. Yoj cant win intera bias and toxic politics
Left Accenture 2 years ago for business school because I felt stagnate with little growth opportunities. Graduated biz school last month and will be returning to consulting but at Bain & Company.
How do you feel about going back to consulting? Is it any different?
Lateral move to industry
So stay and coast, lateral to industry, go into business school, or try a startup if I think I can survive in that environment… I do agree anything besides Accenture could be better but my pay isn’t bad and most lateral moves are paying less. I’m unsure about getting into MBA debt too. If I stay and coast I’ll feel I’m falling behind against peers and friends. And for the startup, I do well in ambiguity and many roles, but I do prefer autonomy, continuity, structure, and creative freedom when working.
honestly I feel like just quitting
