Get your own router, please. It's cheaper in the long run, it's configurable and it's yours to keep after your contract.

Get a mesh router that you control.

Get your own router. Own as much as your tech as you can.
Using a non-Fios router is not just as good. It’s almost guaranteed to be better for the ridiculous price Fios charges to rent their router.
Bought TP Link AC 1750 on Amazon for $50. Works just as well. Verizon charges exorbitant rents on routers.

I bought my FIOS router from Verizon because I didn’t have time to research which one to get. It seems fine and I spent less than what I would have rented it for. I’m sure you can pay less if you buy it elsewhere.
Get your own! Go down to B&H Photo or you can shop online and pickup same day, they’ve got a plethora of router options. I don’t have Fios but I almost doubled the Mbps I was getting on Spectrum when I swapped to a Motorola router.
A fios router is just a router. Don’t pay like $10 a month or whatever it is to rent theirs. Just buy one for like $50.
I used to buy my own. But the routers changed/upgraded so quickly, I didn’t want to keep buying so I rent now. I pay for the gigabit speed and get 300mbps only on their most advanced routers... the one I bought def too slow :/
Biggest scam ever. Modem cost like 30 bucks and they're charging you 10 dollars a month for it.
And I would never let them control my LAN ever in a million years. You want your own wireless router.
TP Link makes the most reasonably priced and best performing wifi routers.
