Good Recruiting Company Recommendations?
Does anyone have any reccomendations for recruiting firms? I’m passively looking for an opportunity. So many recruiters I have worked with seem to not understand the industry. I’ve been working as a construction management consultant for 16 years now. My experience is a bit odd (hwy, rail, management consulting, development - all as an owners rep). I don’t have any recent experience working for a GC and I don’t really want to work for one. Suggestions?

Has anyone actually found love at work? My best friend started at a new company 6 months ago and she just took an offer somewhere else because she and her senior manager fell for each other. After 6 months she knew it was worth leaving her job for! I've been working at the same place for three years and I went on one date with a guy who didn't even work with me he just worked in the building. What am I doing wrong.

Hi all! I picked up a part time job as “computer support” a few months ago and have since found myself doing a lot more than anticipated. I handle installation and maintenance of Burglar systems, access control, video surveillance, network systems, POS workstations, VoIP, and payment terminals. I took the job with no “formal” education in tech. My “trainer” at the company was a joke, I basically taught myself everything. What do you think would be a reasonable hourly pay for such a person?

My company got bought out but kept most of the sales team on. Everything was pretty much the same for the first few months, but recently I've been seeing a shift in my responsibilities-doing customer service tasks and lots of little extras. So I’m in industry from big 4, and a colleague with same yoe comes from MBB. High paying tech firm. I think I work harder and produce quality content at speed, but they can hold executive conversations that tend to impress senior stakeholders.

Big 4 produces work horses and MBB produces leaders. Also they could be a work horse too since I don’t have full visibility.

Anyone have similar experiences or do I just suck at executive stakeholder management?

I work for a big GC in an entry level role. Most of the work is private, but they have some public projects in their portfolio. I graduated college this year with a civil engineering degree. How safe are CM jobs, especially at the entry level, with a probable recession in the near future?

Does anyone have anything to share about what it was like in this industry in ‘08 or the dot com bust? I’m sure it varies from company to company and from market to market. Any insight would be appreciated.

My husband wants to get into PM work in construction (Ideally WFH). Currently he’s doing lighting protection but has been very ambitious and deals a lot with multiple contractors on sites. He should be taking his Journeyman certification test early next year. Any advice for how he can make the shift into the PM world? He’s working to get his CAPM early March 2023 and should have his associates in business be the end of 2023. And advice is appreciated :)
