Discovered that my salary is below the prevailing wage (level 4). Does it mean the company is violating the law by hiring me at below-prevailing-wage rate? What should I do about it?
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Hi my fellow bowlers I have a question about the signing bonuse agreement. If you hand in notice 2 weeks before the signing bonus period ends but have more than 2 weeks vacation left. Would I still need to pay back DT? Or do I need to wait until the actual period end then give notice to avoid repaying?
Frustrated with work as we all are. Single mom insurance defense litigation for mid sized NYC based firm. Base salary is 136k nominal bonuses. Struggling to meet work demands (deadlines, billable hours) and then also struggling financially. Just curious if what I am making is going rate, am of counsel after taking 6 years off of practice 10+ years practicing. Thanks!
That sinking feeling when you're barely holding pace to make your hours and bonus this quarter, then you're volun-told to take on a big nonbillable firm training project. 😭
Hi. Recently have got an offer from CGI. I have heard a lot of good things about this organisation. I am dropping my joining to one of the Big 4 to join here. Is it worth it? Please comment folks.
Sr writer hourly rate for LA? Newer to Sr level.
What other consulting firms have a prominent supply chain consulting practice besides MBB, the Big 4 accounting firms, and Kearney?
Had a phone screen with BCG recruiter today. As a current Big 4 manager with a specific industry and function focus for ~7 years, when asked if I prefer Generalist or Expert track, I said I’m ok with either, because I love selling (Generalist) but I’m also very interested in continuing my existing focus (Expert). She said she can mark me down for both. What are everyone’s thoughts on not necessarily having a firm one-or-the-other answer?
Brand name versus type of experience. Assume experience at the brand name will be less relevant to what I want to do long-term. The “brand” in this case is not Big 4/MBB
How do you obtain info on how much clients pay people in similar role? I'm negotiating my salary later this month and want data. (Recruiters? Ask clients you are friends with?)
Moving from a boutique (<30 employees, MBB competitor) to the strategy practice of a Big 4. Have only worked for boutiques in the past, so I’m expecting there to be some major differences in terms of working style. What are the major differences and ‘watch outs’ you would point out to me? Could be anything from culture, to red tape, to compliance etc.
Does anyone here know who pays the most in data and analytics roles in London? Big Tech vs MBB vs Big 4 vs Industry
California client, please release your east coast resources a couple hours early on Good Friday. With Love, east coast resource
Thinking about what we can go back to doing as part of a Montessori primary children's house, assuming the district/public health allows us to.
Eye-opening article about how the current political and social atmosphere is not something acute - it has been brewing for decades. I find it interesting the link between men and women’s voting patterns throughout the decades. Thoughts? https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/10/2020-polls-gender-gap-women-voters-trump.html?campaign_id=9&emc=edit_nn_20201022&instance_id=23369&nl=the-morning®i_id=86946542§ion_index=1§ion_name=big_story&segment_id=41854&te=1&user_id=1c88578d14824bf0c7cb9788ec43ffa1
Just had a great Zoom breakout room chat with a Bain Consultant who’s an alum the b-school I’m attending (Experience Bain). Asked a couple questions and really enjoyed the convo. Ok to connect on LinkedIn?
Hi Friends, I need urgent help. Suppose in experience letter my designation is test specialist but in candidate form of EY I gave senior test specialist. Will it be problem? Actually after getting promotion I thought I became senior test specialist so gave senior test specialist in EY form. As next band is for senior people and I wrote as senior test specialist. But later I saw it was test specialist designation in my current company. Will that create problem in verification?
How difficult is it to exit to a well-paid finance job in Europe? (PE/AM/HF/CD). And where would you even start to look for one? I really want to get out of the US
I'm up for a "promotion" and would like some help deciphering if the proposed salary is fair. In Chicago, what do Associate Producers tend to make? Can anyone give me a range?
I went back to the office this month (3/4 days per week) and it’s been a positive experience. Plus it seems that some partners who are going in appreciated it. But the office is a 15 min drive away for me. Some people need to commute an hour plus to be there. Will they be at a disadvantage if they actually try to take advantage of hybrid WFH in the future?
Are thank you emails after an interview still necessary? For context, never communicated by email with the interviewers and could only guess their emails.
Does it feel like basically our only exit op is operations work to anyone else? I’ve been interviewing for 6+ months now and these are the roles I’m getting steered toward. I want to stay far away from ops & risk tho so I keep turning them down cuz it’s just so damn boring
People who have their CPA’s and signed up in Alaska, please help me. For the verification of license for cpa supervisor form, do I have to send the form to my supervising CPA’s state board, and then send it to the main CPA exam services location? I swear they intentionally make this shit more complicated than it needs to be
Walking out in a few days. 2 quick points that make me take up non consulting role. First - Big project team and I am a late entrant to the team so chances of promo to M next year doesn’t seem possible. Second - 20% hike without moving out of town. Go ?
Has anyone heard a firm-wide policy that ALL time spent billing is to be self-written off by associates and is not bonus eligible? Have heard from a friend that a firm I am considering lateraling to has such a policy. Red flag?
Do expense amounts get escalated regularly? For everyone? For some reason they escalated a charge of 128 dollars for WebEx which is required for the client . What happens next? #ey
Best consulting firms for real inclusion?
Kamala Harris and Betsy DeVos agree; if the country really valued education, we would pay teachers like the professionals they are. If we don’t get over this babysitter/women’s job mentality, we will go into a critical tailspin of losing teachers. I’m sure you already know that very well, as indeed most teachers either have a second job, need one, or have considered quitting altogether, but this opinion piece is trying to start a discussion to educate the general public. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/28/opinion/teacher-pay-covid.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage

Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.
My i140 is a position for manager. EY won’t file the i485 till I become a manager. Can I file the i485 by myself when the i140 is approved and I am still not promoted to manager yet?
