Debating between M&A manager role or an industry role as an Assc. Director. In one, I’d work fast pace, smart people and I’d become an SME. In the other I’d be building out my own team. But the work..

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Everybody says there's exit-ops aplenty, but I find myself with less options and even more picky than I did as an ambitious T2 undergrad student. Where do I go from here?

Which company is better in terms of job security, work life balance. That's the top most factor I am considering. I need valuable suggestions from you all! I want to migrate to Canada and settle the after getting a PR. I am an associate looking for masters degree in analytics or management field. Budget is limited but can extend it till 35L INR. Tam only considering courses with duration of atleast 16 months so that I get PGWP (Work Permit) of 3 years which would improve my chances of PR.

I work for a late stage(ipo) start up, earlier this year we were acquired & since then they got rid of our yearly bonuses and gave us an ESOP grant.
2 RIFs later we are almost bare bones. Since we are coming up on our usual yearly evaluations many of us assumed (with multiple conversation from our managers) that pay raises and promotions were due.
In a recent All hands we found out that this year there will be no pay raises nor promotions based off merit. Is it time to jump ship?

What do you or are you looking for out of your LGBTQIA+ employee resource group?

I’m sure it’s not new to 2022, but I’m feeling more than ever this year how much of “corporate pride” centers around gay men and calls it “lgbtq”. Are gay women, bisexuals, etc. not as palatable for audiences? I’m struggling with this a bit.

Does anyone know of a good therapist they could recommend in the LA area? Saw someone post something similar to this in the bowl the other day so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask. They don’t have to be LGBTQ+, but it would help if they have some experience in that area.

Just wanted to say, as a guy in my mid-20’s, cheers to all the 30-40+ y/o LGBTQIA+ folks here—I know we roll our eyes at the performative rainbows on everything now, but you folks made this possible for the rest of us—you fought for acceptance, for our rights, and you made it through the struggle so people my age don’t have the same weight to carry, so we don’t have to be as afraid.
We have a long way to go, and I’ll carry the torch too, but I really think y’all deserve more gratitude. Happy 🏳️‍🌈

It is really hard to do well in this business without sacrifice and my partner doesn't like it. To be fair that sacrifice is her... Most nights,over the weekend, and during every meal. She deserves better but I either sacrifice time or sacrifice earning potential.

I don't know how to solve this problem.

Had an associate of mine recently confront me and say he has a crush on me. Told him nope and that would be very unprofessional. He has reassured me that this won’t impact our working dynamic but lately there’s been a lot of pushback on any direction given to him or the team. I’m growing concerned he is holding something against me.
