Costs quite a bit salary wise, but i prefer to think about what I get paid for 4 days, rather than what I pay to take my 5th day off.
I went down to 80% and will never go back. Even with kids now in primary school I get to do drop off, pick up, and get things done in a weekday then give more weekend back to them.
That’s a good idea. Unfortunately big 4 consulting doesn’t really cater to this (in my opinion) as I try to find WLB my quality (mostly just hours put in) goes down and my firm demands high performance
Sounds like a great benefit if you’re only losing up to $20K. I’d take that if I was well established and could perform efficiently with the reduced time. Otherwise, could hurt your career
Ha, you still see them plenty in elementary school… don’t worry. I essentially dropped to 60% as a Partner once I had kids and never looked back. I still probably make 70-80% of the pay (performance / productivity based as a Partner) but my life is infinitely better without always grinding on multiple projects.

My wife quit her job to stay home with ours. That didn’t reduce my work hours but it has allowed me to focus on family time when I’m off work, not house chores since that largely falls on her now. It’s been a huge, positive shift for us. But obviously quite an income loss.
