You don’t have to deal with patients to be burned out in healthcare. I’m in admin and have been burned out with workload. I’d look for position/company that gives you work life balance and has employee support programs that give therapy and counseling for burnout. Then you know you’re truly in good hands. Also look for generous PTO, and then take your PTO.
It’s hard to transition from a therapist into admin. I am currently working on that. I’m an RTT, I got my MHA last year and I’m trying to transition out.
Thank you! I’m definitely doing that and A LOT of networking.
Pharmaceutical research is a great way to use your medical knowledge but not be patient facing. I am in research and work with a lot of medical people. Typically, the company culture is very corporate so it gives you the PTO and great company culture with respect to fun events, team bonding, etc
Perhaps you could consult for a radition tech start up or maybe take some time to figure out what else you're passionate about and switch your career trajectory
Have you considered a generic hospital management role?
I have not thought about that but I will start looking into it. Thanks!
What about working for the companies who make the radiation therapy products? Like Elekta, Varian, Sun Nuclear/Mirion, etc?
Yes, so I've looked into Varian and Elekta and have gotten a few rejection emails from them so far. I did't think about Sun Nuclear but I'll definitely take a look.
Billing and coding
So sorry to hear that
