If you like more Italian vibes, more urban, and getting to know a single area at once, then Malta. You can do everything in five days. Crete is less dense, more nature, better beaches, but requires a rental car.
I have been to Cyprus several times and it has something for everyone: Beautiful beaches, historical artifacts, beautiful nature and lots of historical churches. One day isn’t a lot of time but you can get some flavor of the island. Figure out what you want to do so you can arrive into the closest airport / port. Please only visit the unoccupied side.
I have never been to Malta so I cannot compare.
Cypriot checking in - never been to Malta, but spent many years in Cyprus. Let me know if I can help and I hope you choose and enjoy my mother land!
Cyprus. Malta is very small and theres only 2 beaches or so. The old castle area is nice but aside from that food was underwhelming and we got robbed at del mar pool club. Generally left a bad taste in my mouth. Also driving therenis realllly hard because no one follows rules and the streets are ridiculously narrow. Ive also been to Cyprus more beaches, mix of history, varied food options. Id go to cyprus.
Never been to Cyprus but I also found Malta underwhelming. Great for a couple days but overrun with tourists, especially cruise ship day trippers, and the whole island feels the same.
I️ couldn’t stand cyprus, people are nice but it’s miles and miles of highway and all you see are casinos. Not much to do, not worth going to and the beach isn’t that nice either
Cypriot here - most beautiful beaches, friendly people, historical sites, historical churches and great food. Definitely worth the trip. Please stay on the unoccupied side.
Have never been to Malta so I cannot compre, but I 100% recommend Cyprus.
