At Merkle New York I discovered the reason we were being audited was because the VP on the account was overbilling the client to make it look like an upsell. Then he wanted me to do it. I refused and even though I got my full bonus, they fired me for not doing.
The client found out and fired Merkle.

You mean like rebates or straight up bribes? I've heard media buyers, the younger ones, debating certain goods.
Yes, the person who raised it got fired.
I / the whole trading team was once made to spend client budget on in-house audiences and preferred exchanges without client approval. This was done so the DSP could make up for revenue losses by the end of the year by pumping money back into themselves (we were told our targets). It was unethical as:
1. It removed the choice of top performing audiences for the clients so that the company could line their pockets and give the account team cracking bonuses to stop them leaving
2. It drove up CPMs 3x as the whole company was bidding on the same pool. Less performance for the client - more money for the DSP
The outcome of raising these concerns was that I was told that I was being difficult and there wasn’t an option. I took screenshots of my emails and, under the radar, ran a few 3PD so that I had a little protection. Expected revenue was hit and this year were aren’t being made to do it, for now!

Yeap a few times, just looked the other way, ended up helping me in the end.Someone else tried do something about it and got fired not long after complaining.
