I got one job using a third party recruiter. The others I tried to work with ended up being a waste of time. In-house recruiters are 1000000x more likely to produce results.
Yeah exactly. I'm starting to get the feeling that some portion of their performance evaluation is tied to making so many outreach efforts per month. That's the only way I can make sense of why so many reach out to me on LinkedIn and then ghost after I respond.
I've known of people who had very good experiences with third-party recruiters, so it is possible. However, a lot of recruiters are just absolutely puzzling. They tend to do what you describe, seem to get things in motion, make you optimistic, and then disappear. I assume it's a numbers game for them, and they wind up working with only a small percentage of people after they make initial contact.

Yeah I doubt it even really matters who ends up getting the job, I imagine it’s more of how many people can they get to apply to it.
Yes I did for contracts!

Oh that’s great! Maybe I will in the future.
Having a recruiter behind your back helps with salary negotiations. They handle most of that stuff. I was offered the best salary, sign on bonus I have ever received

Oh wow that’s a good bonus, I’ve always assumed they just see “clients” as a number they want to jot down.
