Yikes! I have been here a few times. Depending on the person you can be direct and leverage active listening tactics: thank them for the overview and add a very warm “I am thrilled that you understand this so clearly, it is just one less thing we have to train you on” or something to that effect. Sometimes they don’t even realize they are doing it.

Try humor. When they’re done, say you don’t fully understand and ask if they can try explaining it one more time. Then say you still don’t get it, can they explain again. Keep going until they run out of steam.

I am about to leave my current organization and I have several thousand in outstanding commission owed to me. Got braids. You'd think I literally got a face transplant from how shook my coworkers are. I would say over 10 people have stopped me to ask about them or comment on them and I've been at work for maybe 2 1/2 hours. It's all been positive, but am I wrong for still finding it annoying? They don't lose their minds when Sarah gets bangs or whatever so I wish they could keep that same energy.

Does anyone else feel like people who are generally nice in person and on calls sound mean or stand-offish in emails and text/chat? I get that over-use of friendliness in text can come off as green/immature, but I tend to try and cushion my words with positivity or even exclamation marks/the occasional emoji to show that I don't sound completely unemotional.

I had the weirdest dream. Criminals were put in a gated community under observation and they had to successfully fake their own death to get out. They were given too many drugs and alcohol. But they end up killing each other or suiciding and no one is left. Once everyone kills themselves they bring in new inmates. It was insane.
