Has anyone successfully negotiated maternity leave before qualifying for your company’s maternity leave policy? I won’t have been at my company for a year before I give birth.

Yes. If you’re senior enough (and at MD, you clearly are) you can make the case for it. The 1-year mark is an arbitrary decision, and there is not one actual reason they can’t just as easily decide to give you the full leave. Tell HR you’re willing to sign any sort of retention agreement they need in order to comfortably give you the full leave. (An agreement that might say you have to pay back the extra weeks or whatever if you leave within X months of your return from mat leave.)

That’s a great idea!

Please keep us updated. I’ve had anxiety about this before and never knew what to do. Good luck!

Probably won’t ask for a while. Just at 11 weeks now.

There’s nothing to do but address your pregnancy head on with your boss and HR. Their response will let you know if this is a company worth investing in or not.

My company is really supportive of working parents but I know some are sticklers for the “policy is policy” mindset.

I’m a Junior product manager with a Master’s in Healthcare Management. I feel like the current company that I am at has my title as JPM, but I am doing PM work i.e creating product roadmaps, collaborating across stakeholders (business, marketing, design teams), creating user stories/features, etc. and I feel like my work isn’t being valued and I’m constantly being micromanaged by business teams expectations.

How feasible is it for me to apply to a PM role with less than a year of experience?

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?

My details include 3.5 years of experience in paid media role, currently working as a Sr Executive for Paid Search also my current package is 6.6 Lpa. One of the major reasons for switch is because the current work is corely focused on execution based tasks and very less on strategy and optimisations. #paidmedia#ppc @groupm @dentsu @publicis @accenture

Started at a big firm in July with high hopes- in the career path I wanted and I would be joining with other new grads.
After onboarding, it’s as if my team forgets about us every day. The training is non existent, there doesn’t seem to be any initiative to invest in new hires, my manager scolds me for not knowing enough yet gives no direction. I don’t want to waste time (colleagues mentioned it doesn’t get much better from here). Do I embrace the suck or look for other opportunities?
