I had the same when I first started in that role. You have to tell yourself bad remind yourself that success or failure of the patient is not entirely your burden. We provide resources to families to help with socioeconomic issues and we refer to others who have the time to devote to applications. However it is the patient/family responsibility to apply, make calls, answer calls and participate. Families would tell me they didn't have time or that it was my job because I'm the CM. It is not. While I do care about each patients outcome, I am not solely responsible for doing all the things for every single one of them. There isn't enough of me for that. So triage the critical needs, delegate what you can to ancillary departments and patient/family. You can love this job, and you can make a difference, but you'll need to set boundaries and explore your own resources to get to that place in this role.
That's unfortunate. You should definitely talk to your manager and see if things can be adjusted. If you're dealing with too much, you may want to get that changed before it becomes a permanent problem. Or perhaps there are things you could do to make things go more smoothly. Try to deal with the root cause, and don't just endure it.
Sorry to hear that OP :( Is it the job itself or is it the company/management you work for?
I feel like I’m running in place most days. So many patients who need so many things and such a struggle to get them what they need

Burnout so soon is tough. Talk to your manager about workload adjustments, set boundaries, and prioritize self-care. Sometimes early burnout signals deeper issues—don’t hesitate to explore other opportunities if it persists.
