IRS uses a third party website for tax payments, so they take pretty much anything

IRS allows it.
There is a fee associated with credit cards. So unless I have no funds to pay taxes , I would not pay extra 2% to the government. I don’t know why you think paying 2% extra fee is worthwhile
Or maybe they can fix more roads with the money...
Worth it if you need the amount to hit a spending threshold for a sign-up bonus. Otherwise no.
How about cards that give 2% back though?
I have used it. Credit card was offering 3% cash back and 0% APR for 12 months, so any IRS fees were offset.
Would you do it again though?
Did last year and got one more year of top airline status because of the spend. CPA was able to avoid credit card fees - same concept as paying rent on Bilt? No idea on specifics but worth exploring. In my case - totally worth it.
Any idea on how they did it?
I've never considered doing it, but it isn't a bad idea. I would only do it if I had the funds to pay it off. I wouldn't want to destroy my credit not being able to pay it off.
Makes sense!
