Attractiveness bias is deeply ingrained and hard to dismantle, but awareness is a start. As managers, we have a responsibility to recognize it and make sure we’re evaluating performance—not polish—when it comes to growth and visibility.

The people that put more effort into their looks, is an important part of this. Presenting yourself professionally has and will always matter in the world. It can be a fine line, but I do think mostly if you are at least looking the part from your own doing, you’ll be fine. There are a lot of factors for getting ahead in the workplace.

Pretty privilege is real, and pretending it doesn’t exist just protects the system. If you’re tall, slim, stylish, and symmetrical, you’ve already got a head start—and it’s time we talk about that bias out loud.

Oftentimes some male leadership is simping, so you have to be careful.

Hi everyone,
I passed my PMP thanks to this sub group.
I have passed Above Target in the People section, and T in the other sections.
It was 95% situational questions.
Thave used AR's mock exams, and used my wrong answers to figure out my weakness and where I truly stand. I didn't purchase AR's course, just the mock exam simulator.
The 200 agile questions by David McLachlan were amazing, it really helped me in adapting to an agile mindset. TIA simulator n Joseph Phillip is useful.

Our company is a small company with 80-100 employees in India, what the company does is ask us to track every single minute of our day, from getting into the office to what time we got up for lunch, tea, etc. for everything we have to put a log, do you guys think this is a healthy process for a company to grow? All the employees be frustrated that they have to go to office regularly and finish 9 hours somehow, a measured break time is also allocated.

You're a new manager with direct reports. One of your directs is very determined. You consider yourself a good manager so you want to help them grow. Does anyone else just not even want to be a people manager anymore?! The amount of work this is taking, I’m just so over it. One of my top talents just put in his two weeks notice and I had nothing to offer him to stay. I told upper management this was going to happen! I’ve spent months asking for a promotion for him, trying to push his career forward and got no traction. I know i did my best. He knows i tried. We interviewed a great candidate, extended a verbal offer and she accepted. We sent the written offer a few days ago but she hasn’t opened it or accepted (it’s expiring tomorrow). I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. I got into Management a year ago and now I miss developing. How do software engineers turned managers feel about their switch over to people management?

A report opened to me that they are having money problems and wants a raise. We are remote and they moved to a high CoL city. We gave an increase to help with retention 6mths ago. In my response, I helped mentor with best practices on how to ask for a raise professionally since I need to make a case to my Head on finances. But their performance has been avg and not seemingly worthy of another large raise within a short period of time. But how do I respond when they talk about personal finances?
