I haven’t. But tell us the situation, you’ll probably get better advice.

I’m seriously considering taking this latest “buyout” I do have interviews lined up talking to recruiters
I’ve noticed it’s hard to match what I was making at my old job or this one at the IRS. If I take the buyout I get 5 months of paid leave and benefits.

I kinda feel like maybe end of May I should text old boss if I can’t find anything

I have. Lost my first full-time offer out of college, and I had to shoot my resume back out to all the people I turned down for that offer.

The people I ultimately worked for mentioned that they were so glad that I changed my mind. It seemed like there were no hard feelings

like

Absolutely and it worked out great for me. Spent 3 years apart and pleased to be working with them again

Yes. I also took the drp last week going back to ey in May. Called my counselor and after a few weeks i was offered my old job back at my old pay. Just an fyi they said there’s a lot of revenue agents applying and not a whole lot of jobs available.

I haven't. If I was desperate for work, I'd probably consider it, as much as I'd hate to. The job market is rough right now. I'm guessing you left on decent terms or this wouldn't have even crossed your mind, so if you're thinking about it, you might as well. If they say no, oh well. You're in the exact same spot you are now.

Yep sure have. That is why I always say don't burn bridges because you never know who you might need to rely on later on down the road.

I went back to an employer I had turned an offer down from. It turned out well for me.

We ll see what I get with DRP 2.0 some of have been offered a date through June 30th others September 30th

If I get the June 30th date I’m not taking it
I’d rather be rifed given unemployment

I’m continuously interviewing places we ll see what happens

How do you keep up/in touch with your network? Mine barely post anything on LinkedIn, so commenting on their posts is out of the question, and apparently it's impolite to just message or email them if the job searcher doesn't have anything to share besides asking for a referral or opening. If I don't have any relevant information to share with them, what should I do?

I just tested positive for COVID-19. Ask me anything you want. Anything. I’m a beacon of knowledge now and essentially a virologist l, epidemiologist, and family physician rolled into one. The power I wield over all you plebeians and proletariat is insurmountable to even the most worthy foe. Ask me my symptoms. Go ahead.

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Is CMA worth getting after getting the CPA? Or is it better to get the CFA. Also don’t have much finance background so I don’t know if I can pass the CFA will require a lot of hard work. Interesting in hearing people’s thoughts.

I have no plans in leaving PA anytime soon but I figure maybe I should look into another certification that holds value and makes me more marketable compared to my peers. Appreciate any thoughts and advice.
