I’m actually in the same situation and coming around to accept that I might have to take a step back to take one forward. Trying to focus more on the role/title and less on the pay. Sucks, but the current market is very limiting.
I'm in that mindset now as well. Looking at the job market now, I would take a lower paying job so that I can stay a float financially and to pay the bills. Focus on the job itself and continue to build your skillset and knowledge. And keep looking for what you truly want in salary. The name of the game right now is survival.
You gotta do what you gotta do
Take the lower-paying job. You want to end your gap in employment as soon as possible because otherwise, recruiters may wonder why it's taking you so long to earn a position. It's easier to get a job when you have a job. I know it may seem counter-intuitive, but once you have a job, recruiters from other companies may notice and believe in your value, and they may try to hire you for a higher salary. Good luck! 😊
