Lawdamercy, you can pivot into so many different areas. Have you not taken advantage of the clinical ladder? Look at the different paths available on the ANA website. My mother transitioned out of bedside by going into occupational health/workers compensation. Niche and lucrative.
Not at all. You could go into legal nursing consultant. Consultant on lawsuits of medical malpractice in the OR.
My mom was sick and had nurses coming to her home just to check on her for a few minutes twice a week, low stress job (home health nurses). Even Telehealth is a good option. Insurance companies like UHC hire tele health nurses. You can find these jobs on indeed and LinkedIn.
Can you leverage your RN experience into employee health or HR adjacent positions?
EH positions are few and far between. I think that would be the best option for me until I retire. HR isn’t anything I’ve considered, but I’ll look into it. Thank you.
Have you ever thought about healthcare recruiting? I work for AMN and we have a lot of RNs and other medical staff that pivoted into LocumTenen recruitment. Right now they are hiring for the Dallas, TX and Atlanta, GA offices but we also offer remote positions!
Can you share the hiring information? I definitely could do this!
Few roles to pivot into from RN: Utilization review management, patient safety quality specialist, medical science liaison https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXIH5-XDR1q/?igsh=MWYzeGsyMGhmMzdnZw==
I am in the same boat. RN for 23+ yrs. Did you find anything outside of nursing?
It doesn't have to be outside of nursing. Just a different area. Ever thought about case management or utilization review? I know State of Florida has Nurse Consultants that do oversight reviews on SNFs and Assisted Living facilities. Like I said above, my mom went into Employee Occupational Health/Workers Compensation. IT/Informatics. So many options!
How are you an RN with no degree?
Yikes- so sorry about that OP. Thanks M1 😓
How about dermatology and getting a certificate?
Hello. Have you looked into taking an office job at a pharmaceutical company? Or maybe a health care start up?
