Hello family! I am an incoming entry level audit staff at EY with a start date of September 2025.
I just found out from my recruiter that I unfortunately answered no to the visa sponsorship question. I honestly don’t know how and why I answered no. In fact, the job showed on Handshake that it was open to OPT and visa sponsorship, so I honestly don’t know why I would answer no. However, I remember vividly that, during my first interview with the manager, although she didn’t specifically ask……

The manager that interviewed you likely assumed HR/recruiting had handled any visa requirements with you. I hope they can get you approved!

like

Do you have enough OPT time left to start and then figure it out while you are employed?
I don’t think answering no and changing to yes later is a problem unless they started capping # of international students (I’m an international student who got GC thru EY but started 10 years ago)

like

Sure I have enough OPT time left.

…..she didn’t ask about my immigration status but I made her aware that I was an international student and was only one year in the states then. Now my recruiter says she will be in touch as soon as she has more information on how to move forward. What should I expect from this. I am currently devastated and freaking out! I have waited for a whole year to start this job, I am really freaking out!

Unfortunately the people who interview you never look at the paperwork for hiring you. That is all handled by the Talent group. So unless the recruiter / Talent consultant asked the interviewees specifically to double check something that wouldn't have come up. As you can probably appreciate anything dealing with immigration in this country can be time consuming during the best of times and this is likely not the best of times. I do truly hope everything gets sorted out for you and you are able to start as planned or at least close to as planned.

I’m hoping for same. I know EY is giving visa sponsorship because they made mention of their immigration team reaching out to people who will need sponsorship. I became worried when I didn’t hear from them, that was when I reached out to my recruiter just to be informed that I actually answered no.🤦‍♂️

I believe it does as the application period to renew DACA benefits was reopened in 2020. Thoughts?
