Hello fishes, I got an offer from hcl with 21(20 fixed + 1 variable) for 13.9 years of experience. I see a lot of amount going to compensatory allowance, and it is mentioned in monthly components. food wallet and holidays allowense are also included in monthly components with basic and HRA. HCL folks please help me understand what will be my in hand salary. Will I be getting all of those allowances mentioned without deducting anything? Think of these as different roles and how many hours the job takes to be successful in it to make that amount in your W2. Working more will not make you more and working less gets your fired.

Over heard today about bad behavior in biglaw : if you had to explain to someone’s parents or loved ones how you treated them and you’d be unable to do so without feeling awkward or embarrassed, you are the problem.

I have a client where the two times I talked to her on the phone she basically told me I’m the worst attorney she has worked with. I told the partner about the difficulties that I am having with this client and the partner said she has not complained about me to him (at least yet). But I also told him if the case doesn’t settle (early stage settlement attempt), I want off this case. It’s a two way street for me and respect.
