I was in your shoes earlier this year. I was looking for a place that was modern/upgraded, large 1BR, with large closet space.
Here are the three I liked best
1. Windsor at West University
2. The James/The Ivy
3. Lofts on Post Oak - this is a condo. And what I ended up picking as I prefer private rentals over apartments now (no BS fees or ungodly rent increases)
All the best!
Check out my fancy apartments on IG
Find an apartment finder agent. They work for free and get paid by the apartment if you sign with the apartment. There’s some on IG. Let me know what you find because I’m also looking to relocate in the upcoming months
Where in the loop would you like to live?
$2K is enough for most 1BR that aren't in a true luxury building. I'd recommend looking in the Heights or Montrose, EaDo and Midtown are also fine if you're in your early 20s and want the college-y nightlife.
Go with heights, montrose, or sawyer yards - if I were in my 20s moving again here these are the spots I’d like to establish some community of friends and close to everything. If you don’t care much for apartment amenities, highly suggest you get on HAR and search in these areas for folks renting out garage apartments. These aren’t going to be listed on all the spam sites but there are a lot in the neighborhoods everyone loves and no corp apartment bs yo deal with- just feel out the owners.
Cabochon at River Oaks. You can get a 2/1 or 2/2 for less than $2k in a great part of town
Older building with few amenities, but great views! Well worth it IMO, happy to split referral with you if you decide on this spot
