when Work >>> Life 😅

Happy Valentines Day!
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

I went to go look at the Hanovers, but thought they were overpriced. Some have high crime, particularly the Galleria area ones, and some units in the Montrose area don’t have balconies. My rent has gone up too, it’s a city/country wide issue.
Do you only want a high rise?
Check out HAR.com for independent listings. I scored an independently owned condo for rent and my real estate agent was able to knock down the price even more. Do your research though on the community itself, location, if you can see on HAR how many times it has been on the market in the past few years, and how long the owner has owned the condo. Additionally, check to see the other types of places your potential landlord owns or has owned to give you a feel for if they are a slum lord or own more high end real estate. My landlord has owned it for over 10 years and only has had like 2 or 3 tenants during that time so I felt pretty comfortable renting from him.
I used a real estate agent and was able to get a 2/1 for 2k in montrose. Walkable to everything you’d want to do.
I have the second floor of an over/under duplex—so, no amenities like a gym, but I live in house with a large yard and don’t have to park in a parking garage and take an elevator to my apartment.
KPMG, just sent it to you
Which area are you currently living in?
Montrose. But willing to move areas. As long as it’s inside or near the loop. I don’t want to have to get on the freeway to drive to work.
I really liked 1414 Texas in Downtown. 2B2B start at about $2600 there.
Definitely get some noise pollution on Friday and Saturday nights from the traffic outside, but I rarely if ever heard my neighbors beside or above. I care much more about hearing people walk above me than I do about traffic noise, but I'm also used to much worse traffic noise having lived in NYC.
I walked my dog at the cooling plant across the street. Never felt unsafe.

Lived down at 1414 Texas and really liked it. Currently live Sterling at Regent Square and really like it given the amenities and location.

Internally 1414 was very quiet because it’s concrete vs wood construction. But you did hear a decent bit of outside noise ( street car if on that side, people revving engines). We would typically walk our dogs around the water treatment building next door (there’s some grass) for a quick walk or go down to Discovery Green.
We really like Sterling so far. Really no complaints other than we can sometimes hear the people above us when they walk. No side or outside noise though. Rent feels pretty in line with most other “luxury” two bedrooms in the area.
