Noda and Optimist Park are also good options. South end and uptown would work too but might be hard to hit that budget. Note that a lot of apartment complexes have non optional add ins including internet, cable, trash pickup, water plus electricity usually separately so if you can’t spend more than $1900 on housing, you probably want to aim for around $1700 max in rent. Luckily moving in January would have lower rents than people looking to move over the summer so you should get a better deal.
Check out the express bus routes too! I take the 77x to and from Davidson. But being in NC, you will likely need a car… it’s not a public transit friendly city yet…
Would not recommend selling your car. I live in the heart south end and still drive to activities. There are 2 grocery stores within 15 minutes walk and the light rail is less than 5 minutes away but I still drive to a lot of place.
Highly recommend living in south end though. Most apartment buildings include parking with your rent and there are a ton of new buildings opening soon, which should reduce pricing. Just did a quick search and you can get a studio for under $1,500 and a 1-bed for around $1,800. Should be cheaper next January too.
I second the not selling your car. I moved here without a car and felt the need for one pretty quickly and ended up buying one.
January is one of the cheaper leasing months in Charlotte so you’ll have an easy time finding a place within your budget whether it be in South End, Uptown or Noda.
I have a 2br 2ba condo listed in Uptown walking distance to the light rail and buses that’s actively listed for rent on Zillow at $1900 if looking.
